Lab Research Assistant

September 2021 – May 2023

As a Lab Research Assistant at SPLAT Lab, I conducted research on peripheral psychophysiology measures, such as heart rate, and behavioral coding under the mentorship of Professor Michelle Shiota. I worked with computer-based studies and administered questionnaire measures, contributing to the lab’s research on emotional processes and behavioral responses. Engaging in weekly lab meetings, I discussed background theories, methodological decisions, and interpretations of study results with fellow researchers, which provided a strong foundation in both experimental and applied psychology methodologies.

Lab Research Assistant

January 2023 – May 2023

In the Culture, Health & Environment Lab, I focused on qualitative research, where I performed data cleaning, quality checks, and in-depth analysis of transcript data to identify key themes and patterns. My role also included organizing and facilitating open-door events aimed at promoting the lab’s research initiatives. This experience allowed me to strengthen my data management and qualitative analysis skills, as well as develop outreach strategies to foster community engagement with research.

Research Assistant

January 2023 – May 2023

As a Research Assistant for the ASB 455 Research Practicum, I collaborated in team-based research examining the impact of school choice on neighborhoods. My responsibilities included recruiting participants, conducting structured in-person interviews, and entering data into an online database, ensuring data accuracy by cross-verifying entries with teammates. This role enhanced my understanding of qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, and I completed the CITI ethics certification to work with human subjects, ensuring all research was conducted ethically.
